It all begins in the thin yet invigorating air of La Paz, before rising further still toward the vast altiplano and the quiet shores of Lake Titicaca; not the ones from postcards, but the forgotten, silent ones, where the sacred lake still whispers its ancient stories.
Then the Cordillera Real rises, sovereign, its glaciers clinging to the Andean sky. And it's here that, over eight days, we walk along ancient pre-Columbian trails linking the Andes to the Amazon. The peaks gradually fade away, the valleys come alive, dressed in green. And at the end of the trail lie the Yungas, where the mountains surrender to the first breaths of the Amazon.
The descent continues on toward Rurrenabaque, a frontier town where the Andes give way once and for all to jungle and pampas, tropical wetlands explored by canoe, teeming with caimans, parrots, and pink river dolphins... Wild Bolivia reveals itself in its final stronghold.
